This process is used on most commercial Chalcopyrite Peacock Ore on the market and you can NOT tumble these stones since it will remove the tarnish on the surface which is what causes the intensely vivid colors. The surface color can also flake off if rubbed too hard, similar to how you can wipe rust off a piece of rusty iron exposing the natural metal.
